Jasterks stood next to the captain on the bridge, he rather enjoyed space travel but he had been sort of a mandolorian marine in the past and had gotten used to it.

The captain stepped over to the comm officer and nodded to him, leaning over. The captain depressed a button and spoke to the whole ship. "We will be dropping out of hyperspace momentarily and will stay stationary for about two standard minutes then we will resume travel."

The ship dropped out of hyperspace seconds later and Jasterk Lurched forward almost slamming his face plate into the view port. "What was that?!"

He turned around and saw the captain quickly regain his balance, then alarms began to ring. Crossing around the front of the Kalicur was a simply odd looking ship with dozens of blaster cannons of different makes all pointed, it seemed, directly at Jasterk.

The captain had noticed too and started barking commands.
"Full forward shields! Power up weapons! Prepare to be boarded!"

These commands were simultaneously relayed over the ship wide comm and Jasterk noticed a sudden burst in activity on the security cams.

The scanners could not tell the ships make but it did indicate a tracking beam had been activated and was holding the Kalicur in place. The ship was listed under a Max Tragen as Jasterk Observed over the Captains shoulder. He was now bending over to look at a screen. "Pirates! Tragen and I have a history, if you see him, im the one that cut out his left eye." He turned to Jasterk and pulled out his pistol, arming it. "Go get a few men lieutenant and prepare to be boarded."

Jasterk saluted and did a quick left face and marched out of the bridge. The enemy ship was turning and its grappling arm was extended, right before the door closed behind him he heard the captain bark calmly.

"Don't fire our weapons, we fight Tragen hand to hand!"

Moments ago.

Alicia hated space travel, it was absolutely the worst part of any job or commission, she always felt like disemboweling people who dare utter the phrase, "Getting there is half the fun."

She knew space was inherently hostile environment for any type of organic life.
Where space was hot, it was hot enough to slag metal and flash boil water.
Where is was cold, it was cold enough to stop the very vibrations of matter.
Just being in space without extensive and encumbering protection was enough to kill you in six seconds, let alone the variety of hazards that existed in space that no one had developed defenses against.
Rogue particles traveling at near C' velocities capable of piercing the most advance shields in existence like it wasn't there, debris drifts that cross hyperlane's killing ships without warning, black holes who's gravity-well's extended across unimaginable distances.

'And lets not get started on HYPER-space.' Lita muttered in her mind, Alicia heartily agreed.

So unlike the other members of the team who had setup their little posts throughout the ship's crew-quarters, engineering and cargo bays. Alicia had picked the safest spot throughout the entire ship.

The escape pods.

She sat within the port-side escape pod with her operations kit, drawing out individual components of her disassembled disruptor rifle and checking with her sight and cybernetics for any defects or malfunctions before attaching the piece to the growing weapon.

While she did this she worked on decrypting the information she had mined from Field Marshal Cursor's personal console in his quarters.

It was a personal rule of Alicia to never go into any operation blind. So far she really did not like how little she knew of what they were walking into.

After sometime, Lita notified her that the decryption process was complete as she finished assembling her disruptor rifle and inserted a power core.

Gathering her attentions she prepared to study the freshly compiled files, but before she could do so, blearing klaxons shattered her focus.

"Battle stations, Battle stations." A voice yelled over the alarm. "Prepare for boarders! this is not a drill, Prepare for boarders!"

Alicia shot to her feet while she mentally felt through her cybernetic links to check the ready status of her equipment. Satisfied at their functionality she slung the disruptor rifle under her arm to rest behind along her spine and leaped through the opening of the escape pod back into the ship.

Jasterk had grouped together five troopers and they stood waiting at the starboard side airlock along with other OUF personnel, the most likely place the pirates would enter from.

SSSSS BANG!

The door was cut down both sides then it blew open and sent sparks and debris across the hallway. This airlock was in a prime place as it was close to the power core and it had to be defended at all costs.

Suddenly random armored beings of every species with every type of weaponry short of a lightsaber poured through the burnt opening of the airlock and commenced firing.

Jasterk rolled to the side and fired his duel revolvers taking down five or six pirates but more kept coming. His OUF squad continued firing into the hole until no more came though.

Jasterk a jedi and a few troops along with the Field Marshal and captain entered the pirate vessel to find the Tragen.

After finding the bridge in the mess of wiring and modified equipment the captain faced off against Tragen alone with a vibrosword and won. They made their way back to the Kalicur and were greeted by cheering troops. It seemed to Jasterk that obviously a few space pirates couldn't take on heavily armed OUF troopers and jedi, it was the last mistake they ever made.

After a short speech concerning the great job the crew had done repelling the boarders the captain ordered the ship return to hyperspace but not before the airlock was patched up and the pirate vessel sent drifting in space.

Jeme walked over to the pile of bodies around the airlock, helping the other soldiers and crewmen in hauling the bodies onto the deserted pirate vessel. Jeme walks over those being thrown on the bridge in a pile, checking for any life signs.....so far there are none who are not beyond help.

Walking over to the nearby officer, Jeme begins checking over those who had been taken down on the bridge of the pirate ship to be left adrift.

"any chance that you found any survivors sergeant?"

Turning around the Sergeant salutes, addressing Jeme "so far sir....no one, though you can already tell that some of the pirates took their own lives...very unlikely for pirates if you ask me. It's...Something just isn't right, though I'm very sure that everyone already knows that by now."

Stroking his chin, Jeme turns to the sergeant, beckoning him to follow. "I don't know how or why we were attacked by such a small band of pirates, but to think that they would find our position so coincidentally seems rather odd...."

"So what would you be insinuating? That we have a stowaway....perhaps an informant, told those pirates the exact course where we would be heading?"

Turning the corner, the two walked through the blasted airlock back into the Kalicur, the sergeant barely able to keep pace with Jeme.

"I am sorry to cut the conversation short sergeant, but we shall speak no more of this, and you to no one....There may be a traitor in our midst, and it would be best for the perpetrator to have no knowledge that anyone thinks anything other of this than just a pirate attack......Those who feel different may figure it out eventually"

Giving Jeme an almost icy gaze, the sergeant salutes "Yes...on my life..."

"That is good to know....you have done well, now report back to the rest of the crew, we will probably be heading into hyperspace soon."

As Jeme leaves the troubled sergeant to his thought, Jeme couldn't help feel that someone was watching him.......

The Kalicur began its decent into the planet's atmosphere. As the hull began to glow from the intense heat, a small shuttle released its magnetic grip and shot ahead.

"Keep constant radio contact out there Staren."
"Rodger Captain."

As the ship broke through the clouds, flat, barren lands shown across the horizon. At the center of a large crater, a city structures formed into view. The buildings were very peculiar in the fact that some looked older and worn while others looked new, still showing their brilliant shine.

"Crew, this is Grand Vizier Marco. Up until you have been told only that we are on a search and rescue mission for Senior Councillor Haan. This is a lie. I do not care to frabricate stories of heroism to make you feel better. All of you need to know exactly what you are about to see and fight," the voice crackled across the intercom.

"Once the bay doors open team, flowing through it will be a insidious gas that will slowly kill each and every one of you. Luckily, before we lost contact with Haan, she sent us a formula schematic of this gas. Before each of you leave this ship, you are to take a injector from the on-board doctor and inject yourselves." The ship began it's slow down procedures and landed hard on the surface of Fornax. Outside, a mere 4 clicks to the West, was the city. Even from this perspective, it still looked out-of-place.

"Something you must understand is that if your body rejects the antidote, you will die. For obvious reasons, we could not discuss this with you in the briefing. Most if not all of you would be not be here now. I do not pretend to tell you that we will survive our trip here. In fact, statistics tell me that most of you will not make it through the night. Out there, friends, is something that we cannot explain. According to our first preliminary scans of the surface, approximately four clicks to the West, there was an entire crater-city filled with hundreds of thousands of life-signs," Marco paused and breathed deeply, "today, we cannot get a single reading. The city is barren."

"Where these people have gone and why this killing gas is here is our mission. Our secondary objective is to find the team we sent before including Haan, to learn of their fate or to bring them home. If any of you do not want any part of this mission, I understand. The Kalicur will depart shortly after we leave to bring you back to Caarimon. I employ you now though, please assist me is learning the truth to this. I will meet all of you in the bay in five minutes. Good day." The intercom cut off with beep and for once, the ship feel silent.

Arashi sat back in his chair as the intercom fell silent thinking this was not gonna be like any mission he had ever been on. Arashi put his hands on his face and said aloud 'Haar'chak, what have we gotten ourselves in to this time!' He stood up from his chair and thought to himself, well theres no use stressing about it now. Arashi gathered his gear and headed down to the bay. It was always good to be early as a leader.

Alicia looked at the small clear vial containing the antidote which she held between her fingers. The blueish tinged fluid within certainly looked benign enough, but she certainly knew that appearances could be deceiving.

"I'm going to need a T5 column injector." she said, turning to the ship-board medical specialist, who was in the process of handing out vials to the rest of the team.

"Pardon?" The Medic said with a slight frown.

"Fifth thoracic spinal injector."
Alicia explained, gesturing with the vial.

"Oh."
The medic's brow shot up. "You have a medical implant?" he asked while he rushed towards a well-stocked medical cabinet.

"T5 spinal column pharmacope replacement."
She acknowledged awkwardly.

"That's pretty invasive."
The medic said hesitantly handing her the old tubular assembly.

"Indeed, but it has proved to be pretty useful at times." Alicia replied as she slotted the vial into the odd looking contraption and plugged the other end into a small hidden port which in the back of her light armor. Grunting in slight pain as the injector interfaced with her pharmacope through her armor, a not exactly elegant process.

Indicators and read outs flared into view in her vision. Graphs and complex chemical charts assembled in her view as her pharmacope sequenced the injector's contents within an isolation chamber.

'Analyzing contents' Lita, her resident AI said in a flat, business-like tone. 'Unknown bio-chemical solution, humanoid genotype variant, minor bio-markers identified, similar to ACI-Neurotoxins. Unknown biological response.' Lita finished.

'Run a bio-responsive test.' Alicia ordered, she didn't take blind chances, this is part of the reason why she had spent a large portion of fortune on replacing a section of her spine with the pharmacope and its medical chemical reservoir. As well as the currently in use, biological isolation chamber.

'Introducing Bio-sample' Lita complied as she injected a part of Alicia's biological material into the chamber to study the reaction. 'Minor Mutagenic response, beta particle bonds, grade three toxic reaction, toxin levels - non-lethal.' the AI reported.

"Hmm." Alicia said out loud. 'Alright then, at least we know that we won't be committing suicide via injector, clear the antidote' She mentally told her AI.

'I hope you know what you are doing.'
Lita old her as Alicia felt the antidote slip into her blood stream as the isolation chamber opened.

No more than 5 minutes after the announcement about the poison gas, did the door open with Cursor walk into the cargo bay. Tynovi had idea what he was about to ask and didn’t like the idea at all, so he pretended to be asleep. “Quite faking and get up”, ordered Cursor. Without moving Tynovi said, “You want me to go down there don’t you”.

“What better way to evaluate a mission and to be a part of it”, argued Cursor?

“Tell me have you been able to find out what species I am”? Tynovi asked after a moment of silence, then continued, “I’m a Miraluka, I don’t expect you to know who we are, since we hardly leave our home world. Basically we see through the force and all organic things, even the dead can be seen through the force as bright glowing outlines of themselves. When I look down at that planet I see no glow of life”.

Cursor almost looked surprised then said, “Why do you think I had you come on the ship? Now go to the med bay and get the antidote we're leaving soon.” Cursor said then turned and left. Tynovi sighed; he didn’t have much choose now. He started gathering his things then turned and looked out the window. For a brief second he thought he had seen the small glow of life on the planet, but as he examined it closer he decided it was just his imagination and made his way to the med bay.

Jasterk had already detached from the Kalicur as the notification about the antidote went out. He had opted to take the vial and inject it himself, he didn't expect any bad side effects as he had been induce with sarlaac poison and mynock spit, among other things and had survived.

Jasterk took off his glove and pushed the injector against his skin. A second later he pushed the button and he heard a release of air sound then a prick. He sat for a moment and felt fine then took the controls, tossing the injector into the waste basket under the control board, next his feet.

The Errant Venture, Jasterk's ship, burst into the Fornaxian atmosphere. It was oddly quiet and devoid of life, but Jasterk had expected this from the poison gas. Even if the antidote was ineffective his helmet scrubbers could keep anything out as long as his neck seal remain, and to an extent once breached.

Jasterk's ship was skimming over the surface as its pilot slowly turned toward the marked city on his screen. Suddenly the city scape came into view above a cloud of the poisonous gas. He could only glimpse the tops of some buildings and his vision of the streets was completely obscured.
Guess its pretty obvious what happened.

Jasterk went to the opposite side of the city from where the Kalicur would be landing and activated the repulsorlifts, hovering in place. He unstrapped from the gray crash webbing and let it hang neatly beside the chair then got up and with a rhythmic clanking sound from his boots, went to the back of the ship to activate his newly refurbished HK-101 assassin droid.

Then he began to think. Where are all the bodies?

Damn people and their scheming, thought Apollo as he injected himself with the "antidote", hopefully not more lies, but so far nobody had died.
At least there was some more intel, if you could call it that. Command lying was nothing new but he had thought they might be different in the OUF with their unique ideals. So, Haan was probably dead and the population of the planet had suddenly disappeared overnight, and not just the people but the native animals too.
This was starting to sound more and more like a horror movie, all they needed now was a hot blonde, a blck man to sacrifice himself and some undead.

The bay slowly filled with the crew, most looking overly serious or scared shitless. One by one, they all stepped up to the Medical Officer and retrieved their serums. To the left of the Officer, slowly, a pile of dead bodies formed from those whose bodies rejected the antidote. They all looked peaceful except for the darkness filling their eyes. A few every now and then would see these bodies and step to the side to go home where it was silently declared the "coward's corner". Some of the officers walked by, chests pumped out, berating the frightened members who chose to go home.

"That will stop immediately," a stern voice commanded the rude crew.
"Are you so insecure with your own moral that you would harass the men who chose their families. I will cut you down myself should I hear another word of it." The officers quickly scuttled off with their tails tucked.

"Everyone, atten...TION," the Grand Vizier boomed over the sounds of the bay. In haste, the crew all formed in straight lines and the former noise of anticipation and fear was silenced completely. Only the few to go home or the stacks of dead bodies did not fall in.

"At ease crew. First and foremost, let me thank each of you for your bravery and fearlessness in the wake of what is to come. Some of your fellow members, to the right, are not coming. I want to say to them that you are no less brave and that we understand your decision. When we return home, you are still counted as both friend and comrade. Now, to you select few, we will be separating in three main strike forces as well as a single ghost team. Once outside the shuttle, we will be marching one click to the West towards the city. There we will set up base camp and you will receive your team orders. Each of your files has been looked over by me and I have decided where best to place you. This is not to be argued. Now, troops, we head out immediately to glory or death. Dis...MISSED." With those words, the Vizier turned to the Medical Officer, grabbed a serum and injected himself.

"Open the bay doors and let's get this show started," Marco said with a slight slur in his voice. The hanger bay's tower doors slowly dropped and landed with a thud onto the sandy surface. Dust and a thick, hazel smoke immediately rushed into the room.

Grand Vizier Del'kaan Marco turned with his back to the crew facing the world outside, smiled...then collapsed, his dilated eyes turning black.

No one, least of all the medic who was too busy watching for reactions in the injecting soldiers noticed that there was one vial missing from the dispenser. It had been injected quickly trusting in his command of the force to filter out any poisons that might do him harm.

For the first time in the entire journey he allowed his force cloak to drop and started walking towards the ramp, somehow his black on black robes were billowing out behind him in a complete lack of moving air to cause it and his dark purple bladed saber was riding on his hip within very easy reach as always.

He walked to the body in front of the troops, unmindful of the mutterings and exclamations of shock that he heard and took one step in front of the body. His first act was to make eye contact with Alicia and give her a slight nod, she would be surprised but she was a professional and would adapt quickly.

He scanned the room at all the faces watching him and cleared his throat.

"This mission is now under my direct command"

Then the figure began to address the captain and the ship itself.

"Captain enter your code"
"Yes Sir" The Captain snapped to attention and fired off a crisp salute as he intoned "Alpha Charlie One, Three, Five, Execute"

The monotone voice of the ship was the next to speak

"Code acknowledged, awaiting new command authority"

"Sa'athis Quinlan, Grand Inquisitor, Alpha, Charlie Three Six Four Nine Execute"

"Command authority override acknowledged, please state your orders Sir"

"Data lock-down, all materials on this mission are now classified Elder2"

"Classification accepted, data lock-down commencing, Elder2 encryption activated, all firewalls active... Scanning...Scanning *WARNING* there has been an unauthorized access at..."

"Ignore" Quinlan commanded the computer with a look towards Alicia.

Then it was time to face the crew.

"Marco has given you your orders we move in 15 minutes, get you gear stowed and be ready to head out. Alicia my office now.

Quin strode through the confused crowd of jedi and troopers towards the Executive deck where he had spent the trip in one of the Elders reserved cabins. Alicia followed.

Arashi looked around the bay as everyone was quite speechless. He figured he better say something before something bad happened. He walked up to where the former Grand Vizier lay, turned around to address the members. He first pointed towards two medics and said,

'Medics, please take the body to the med bay. Thank you. Ladies and Gentlemen of OUF, I understant this is a delicate and unorthodox situation we have found ourselves in. However I need every one of you to stay focused on the task at hand. We are in a very serious situation here on Fornax and I need you all to be 100%. We have a few minutes till we set out so if you have any questions or feel you need anything before we move now is the time to speak up. I will fall you out of formation, but you are all required to stay in bay unless I authorize you to leave. Detail, FALL OUT!'

Jasterk recieved a message through his helmet saying the OUF team had landed and was setting out.
Jasterk sent a quick acknowledge ment and went back to the cockpit.
With the pushes of a few buttons the landing pads lowered and he pulled back on the throttle slowly bringing the Errant Venture down to the cloudy green soil.

Next to him standing in the cockpit was Rex, as the HK-101 was now designated. He was an older model by fifty or so years but with all the beskar plates he had installed along with the various weapons and advanced echani and mandolorian fighting techniques, Rex was a formidable opponent, and an even better companion.

He was a little over six feet tall, painted in a green and brown like camouflage scheme the same as Jasterk's armor.

"Master, where are we?"

You wouldn't expect any regular droid to ask you that kind of question but Rex was no ordinary droid, he was trained to learn.

"We're on the planet Fornax Rex."

Just then the ship bounced slightly as it came to rest in the grassy open area inside a small group of trees.

"We're here to investigate some mysterious happenings, here take all the data."

Jasterk handed a datachip to Rex he had made that contained information on the mission.
"Destroy that when you're done."
"As you wish master."
He pushed this small chip into a socket on the back of his head then removed it a second later and crushed it in his robatic hands, releasing it to fall to the floor in a scattered cloud.

"Lets move out."

Rex followed with a nod reminiscent of a mandolorian soldier. They both produced slight clanking sounds and made their way to the landing ramp. Leaning against the wall next to the ramp controls were their blaster rifles. Jasterk had given Rex a CQB rifle the same as his except with a droid compatible scope. Rex also snapped the bandoleers on that lay next to the rifle, they contained plenty of ammunition.

Both picked up the weapons in unison and magnetically clapped them to their backs, then turned to the ramp.
It began to open downward slowly and came to a halt with a jerk and three blasts of pressurized air from the hydraulics.
"Ok Rex, lets go."

Apollo was one of the first to follow Quinlan out of the hangar bay.
The sun was shining on their side of Fornax, even the orange-brown dirt dirt sparkled with reflected sunlight.
They were on the outskirts of the city but in the distance he could see a ridge, the edge of the crater where the buildings seemed to stop and then, further out skyscrapers shot up out around where the center of the crater should be. There was a smoggy haze in the sky about the city, presumably the gas, and he also noticed there was no wind.
Several troopers and other enlisted personnel followed his lead, often people preferred to follow a man in uniform than a secretive Jedi who had popped up seemingly out of nowhere. Soon ranks had formed and the men looked ready to move out,
"Where to, sir?" asked Apollo of the new head officer.
