Vly-Nor nods to Jacan after saying he has time to kill. He then begins explaining his findings, "Well I was doing some research on the founders of our order to simply understand our history a little better. During the last purge the jedi created against our Order a lot of information on our history was erased to make it more difficult for the jedi and the bounty hunters they hired to find our members, as you already know. While sifting through the corrupted data I ran across a name Jolee Bindo. The only information I could find on him was that he supposedly helped Revan on his journey to find Malak. It appears he was a member of our Order. With the councils permission I was gonna ask if I could take the corrupted file to one of our tech specialists and see about recovering the rest of the information. I would also like to research Jolee's name in data bases throughout the galaxy to see if I could get some more information on his past."

Vly-Nor suddenly realizes he is doing a lot of requesting without letting the Supreme Commander say a single word. "Forgive me Jacan, it seems I am a little over excited about this finding and am doing all the talking when I have come seek yours and the Elder Council's guidance." Vly-Nor pulls the datapad out with the copied information on it and awaits the Supreme Commanders reply.

Post  Toranilor on Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:00 pm

Toranilor left the training room, pleased with his progress with the remotes. Carefully avoiding eye contact with any of the masters, Toranilor decided to head to his private quarters and make sure he had nothing he was supposed to be doing.

Walking across the courtyard, Toranilor heard a few privates conversing.

"I hear cadet Jeme is having trouble with the engines on his ship"

"Really? What kind of trouble?"

"I don't know, it's a V-series, never even seen one of those."

A V-Series! thought Toranilor. How in the world did Jeme aquire one of those? This would make for a most interesting study....
I could repair it for him... even if I can't, it would be brilliant to see a V-Series!

Deciding to go see Jeme immediateley, Toranilor crosses the courtyard to the hangar.

Apon entering the hangar, Toranilor is awestruck by the sheer magnitude of some of the ships, and the number of them docked. It dawns on Toranilor that it is going to take some time to find Jeme.

After wandering in awe for around thirty minutes, Toranilor passes an impressive Aurek Tactical Starfighter. Making a mental note to find out who owns such a magnificent vessel, Toranilor spots Jeme in an adjacent hangar, tending to a rather strange looking Viper-Class starfighter. Wondering how such a thing got off the ground, Toranilor approached Jeme and said;

I Hear you're having a bit of trouble with your V-Series. You want me to take a look at it for you? I'm fairly knowledgable about engines, if i do say so myself."

Quinlan makes his way through the archives and seats himself at a unused terminal in the corner, turning his concentration inward with a surge of will he extends his force cloak out and away from his body to encompass the terminal as well. Safe from prying eyes and ears he accesses the terminal.

"Voice print ID EC1I1, access personnel files, Cadet Toranilor"

Within in seconds the file appears on screen and Quinlan starts reading. After a few minutes of this he has flagged several sections of the file for follow up knowing that it would probably lead nowhere but also knowing he had learned to trust his instincts long ago. Quinlan continued reading and came upon a section that interested him. As he skimmed over the section he thumbed a control on his wrist, elsewhere in the complex a sleak black sphere bristling with weapons, needles and other protrusions floated out of its bay and started to make its way to Quinlan at speed.

This design was favored by the Inquisitorius for the fear it inspired, and although no one at this time knew it, 3000 years later the same design would endue for the same reason. The droid navigated its way though the temple complex taking care not to damage anyone while it was moving not that the droid would care it was just what it was programmed to do.

In a surprisingly short amount of time the droid arrived at Quinlan's side, he projected his cloak just a little more to cover it and gave the droid its orders.

"Begin recording"

"Cadet,
I have a job for you. My starfighter needs a modification something I have been attempting for a while now however without success.
I want you to source and install a Hyper Drive into my Aurek Tactical. The droid has the schematics of the ship and will follow your orders, within reason.
I am well aware of the size of the ship and the relative size of a standard HyperDrive but that is your problem.
Success will be rewarded and failure will be punished, failure is not advised."

"End recording"

"I1Q1 ensure the Cadet does not under any circumstances access the sealed systems, if he indicates he requires this contact me. If he still attempts to gain access, terminate him."

"go"

With that final command the droid floats off to locate Toranilor

I Hear you're having a bit of trouble with your V-Series. You want me to take a look at it for you? I'm fairly knowledgable about engines, if I do say so myself."

At that moment, a black sphere approached Toranilor, a droid with remarkable speed and stealth. Noticing the weapons, needles and other dangerous things protruding from the droid, Toranilor excuses himself from Jeme, and follows the droid as it moves a few meters out of earshot.

::Begin Playback::

Toranilor was startled that the droid seemed to know when they were out of earshot, and was even more so when Quinlan's voice eminated from the droid.

::End Playback::

Success will be rewarded and failure will be punished... I can understand what sort of punishments Quinlan could impose, but what rewards could he give? With a starfighter of this quality I'm sure he will have something worth my while.

Walking to the ship, Toranilor stands at what he assumes is the entrance. The droid beeps once, and a hatch opens on the other side of the vessel. Glad no-one was around to see his mistake, Toranilor enters the ship.

Once aboard, Toranilor makes his way towards the rear, to what he assumes is the engine room. To his delight, he is correct, and he immediatley records the dimentions of this room into his holopad.

Well, I'm sure the hyperdrive will fit, this room seems big enough.

No sooner had he taken out his holopad, the droid which had previously been observing quietly beeped loudly. Startled, Toranilor drops the datapad, and the droid approaches it, doing what looks like a scan.
"Hey! What are y-"
Toranilor stops as the droid points a needle at him. Fearful for his safetey, Toranilor steps back and allows the droid to continue its work.

::Scan Completed::
Standard Holopad. Poses no danger. Return to owner.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Toranilor picks up his holopad and continues his inspection of the dimensions of the ship. After a thorough check, Toranilor enters the data into his Holopad and performs some calculations.

Well, the gamma ray emittor and fusion generator I can easily make for a ship this size, but the inertial dampener and null quantam field generator are going to be a problem. But I can tackle those later.

Thinking for a moment, Toranilor turns to the droid.

"Uhh, Droid, can you aquire a couple of T-14 hyperdrive generators and meet me in my quarters?"

::I am much more capable than you think, cadet. I will meet you in the location you specified with the items.::

With that, the remarkable droid left the ship, and floated out of the hangar with astounding speed, surprisingly avoiding contact with any of the other members in the hangar. Surprised at the quality of droids available to Quinlan, Toranilor walked towards his quarters, trying to come up with a solution to the dampener and quantam generator problem.

Toranilor returned to his quarters to find the droid already waiting for him, two T-14 hyperdrive generators underneath it. Wondering how what was essentially a very well designed floating black orb managed to carry the generators, Toranilor picked up the generators and sat in a corner of his quarters, taking apart the generators.

"Droid, can you upload the schematics of the ship into my datapad?"

Toranilor hands his datapad to the droid, which emits a low humming tone as it uploads the schematics of Quinlan's Aurek Tactical Starfighter.

::Uploading Completed::

"Thanks... I guess."

Toranilor makes some more calculations, and pulls out a strange looking tool. He opens up one of the core components of the generators, removes a strange looking solanoid, and proceeds to carefully connect it to the other generator.

A few hours later, Toranilor's quarters are littered with components of the Hyperdrive generators. However, most of the components seem to have arranged themselves into what looks like a useable engine.

Relaxing, Toranilor leans back and says to himself;
"Terrific! The gamma ray emitter and fusion generator seem functional."
to which the droid retorts
::This achievement is minimal. My master could have easily comissioned one of these.::
"Well, I'm not sure it would have looked as pretty as mine, droid. Although I suppose you are right, best get to the bigger problem at hand. Maybe the library computers have something on null quantam field generators or inertial dampeners."
::My master has access to resources beyond the library computer. If he could not find such an engine, I doubt you will be able to::
"Well, however skilled Quinlan is, he's no engineer, and I doubt he knew what parts he had to look for. Just be quiet untill we reach the library."
With that, Toranilor gets up, picks up his holopad and leaves his private quarters, walking to the library.

Toranilor enters the library, taking little note of what is going on. He sits down at one of the archival computers, quickly joined by the droid. Muttering something to the droid, Toranilor focuses on the computer, oblivious to his surroundings.

Skeeve sits up excitedly at the terminal he has been sitting at since entering the library. "I've found it. This will finally make me a knight." he thinks to himself. "If this is the task I shall assign myself I had better get extra training in."

Skeeve then gathers up his datapad full of the information he has just downloaded, leaves the library, and turns toward his quarters. He dons his full armor, pulls his cloak over the armor, and heads straight to the training room.

Outside the door of the training room Skeeve uses the force to search for anyone in the training room. “Good,” he thinks, “all alone.”

The door to the training room slides open as Skeeve keeps the lights turned off. Using the force to feel out the room Skeeve finds the switch for the training remotes. With a flick of the switch on his lightsaber he begins training.

Using the force to feel out the remote, Skeeve parries and tries to react accordingly. The remote turns quickly and Skeeve gets a shock to the back of his hand.

“Damn!” exclaims the jedi who then refocuses and reaches out with the force again.

Skeeve continues like this for hours. The only sounds being made are the high-pitched blaster fire of the remote and the dull hum of his lightsaber.

Aha!
thought Toranilor, as he sat at the archival computer, staring at the screen.

If I can get ahold of these parts... and put them together in some sort of rotating circular arangement... it should solve my quantam null field generator problem, AND the inertial dampener situation!

Toranilor leans back to the droid and says
"Droid? See those parts on the screen? I want you to 'aquire' three of those... two of those... and one of each of these.", pointing out the items he desiresd.

::Those items can be aquired with relative ease::

"Brilliant. Meet me in my private quarters tommorow droid, try not to be late."

::Delays are an error made by your kind, not mine, cadet.::

With that remark, the black spherical droid floated out of the room, leaving Toranilor at the computer.

Good! thought Toranilor. Time away from that blasted droid. I'm sure he's not just there to assist me. I doubt Quinlan would waste an oppourtunity for surveilance. Probably wants to learn something so he doesent have to ask me next time he wants a ship upgrade. Toranilor chuckled. I hope for his sake that that's not his intention, even a republic engineer would have a hard time with the things I'm doing.

Laughing to himself, Toranilor made his way to his quarters to meditate. The trip was uneventful, which struck Toranilor as odd, as something usually happens when he travels from one place to another. Shrugging off his suspicions, Toranilor entered his quarters, sat on his bed, and rested.

When he awoke he found the black droid floating at his door, the parts he requested at his feet. Wondering again how a droid, let alone a flying black ball managed to carry all this equipment, Toranilor thanked the droid and took the parts to a corner of his quaters, pulled out his datapad and began to work.

A few hours later, Toranilor had finished his rotation assembly and had married it to the part he had constructed earlier. Running over it one last time, punching in his datapad, Toranilor leant back and exclaimed; "Ha ha! I've done it! The only engine of its kind!"

Putting aside his celebrations, Toranilor turned to the droid and said
"Droid! Get this down to Quinlan's ship without breaking it, would you? We have a job to finish."

Toranilor left his quarters, and made his way to the hangar. Apon arriving at Quinlan's impressive Aurek Tactical Starfighter, Toranilor was astonished to find that the droid had beaten him there, and the hyperdrive engine was intact.
"How did you... Oh never mind, let's just get this thing installed"

Compared to constructing the engine, installing it was relativley easy. Consulting his datapad, Toranilor went over the installation one more time before turning to the droid and saying; "Droid, tell Quinlan the job is done, and I hope he finds it to his satisfaction. There is a program on my datapad that should integrate the engine into his sytem, but the ship's computer is voice-locked. Give my datapad to him, and please dont loose it, it's taken me years to compile everything on there."

Glad to be rid of the droid, Toranilor waled back to his private quarters, to meditate and ponder Quinlan's reaction to his modifications.

Re: OUF Temple on Caarimon (15ATC)

Post  Quinlan Sa'athis on Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:19 pm

Quinlan was sitting behind his large desk going over some files when his communicator flashed. As he looked to the screen he received a brief string of text, it was a "mission complete" code from one of his droids, looking to the end of the string he recognized the code as I1Q1. Quinlan allowed himself a rare smile,

"Either the ship is ready or the Cadet is dead" he mused.

He cared little for speculation as the answer would come soon enough, with that the communicator was keyed and a short "report" code was sent back to the droid, the code that instructed it to return and make its report on the mission.

Leaving his chair and stretching, he strode around his desk and over to a large plush chair in the corner of the room. Quinlan liked his comforts and this one was a favorite. He had barely settled when I1Q1 floated in through the door to hover before its Master.

Some people prefer to receive their information from start to finish in a orderly manner, others like hop around inside the data and pick what they want from it in no discernible order, Quin was different, he liked to question, when the topic interested him enough to do so, this one didn't so the report would be short.

"Is the ship finished"?
Of course in this instance finished meant all mission parameters were met to a satisfactory standard.

"Yes Master"

"Is he alive"?

"Yes Master"

"Anything I need to know"?

The droid floated closer silently and 'handed' the data pad to Quinlan. He scanned the pad quickly and read the note left by Toranilor, with that he got up from the chair and moved to the display of sabers on the far wall. Most of the sabers here were real and had a history, there were no famous ones as such although Quinlan did possess one or two well known blades they were kept under rather tight security conditions.

Quinlan did not hesitate as he picked up a unassuming saber from the display and thumbed a invisible bio-metric scanner causing a small panel to slide open that revealed a hole, inserting the saber hilt-first into the hole and clicking it into place caused a soft beep to emanate from behind the display. This was the signal that the interface was ready, pressing the saber activation switch in this case did not produce the famous blade of light that sabers were famous for rather a slight red glow, this was the third part of the security system and required a scan of Quins eye. With a quiet hiss the entire display opened revealing a computer console and a large storage chest.

Quin plugged the data pad into the console and and waited for the systems to align fully.

"Transfer program 'Hyperdrive1' to my ships computer, authorization Inquisitor1xalpha unlock, and execute"

"Scan contents of data pad and download to file Toranilor"

"Analyze"

Computer Voice
"Analysis complete, Level 7 Encryption detected on data module 4 through 11"

Quinlan smiled and decided the interest level had just picked up.

"Decrypt modules and run a level 4 security audit on the data"

Quin disconnected the data pad and tossed it towards his desk, catching it with the force before it hit and lowering it gently to rest on the polished surface. He then turned his attention to the storage chest opening it easily and selecting three small boxes from it and walking them over to his desk.

Returning to the alcove he deactivated the console and closed the chest, finally pressing a button that closed the display back up. The saber was deftly removed and the panel slide silently closed as Quin replaced the saber in its stand.

As he turned to face the droid he felt the weight of the saber he wore and thought grimly of the use it would be put too very soon.

"Find Toranilor and bring him here, I want him in this room in 15 minutes"

The droid floated silent out of the room and Quin said to no one in particular.

"Time for the loose ends"

Toranilor sat meditating on his bed, as he always did when he was waiting for something. Or someone. When he heard the soft sweep of his door opening, Toranilor spoke.
"I didn't think you would arrive so quickly Quinlan. If I'd known this was so-" Toranilor stopped speaking as he saw that it was not Quinlan who had entered his room, but his floating black sphere of a droid.

"Damnit! exclaimed Toranilor, "I guess I'll never be as good at sensing people as your master, droid."
"You seem to stick to me like smell on a bantha, why are you here?"

::Your presence is requested in my master's quarters. I am to take you there Immediatley::

::And cadet,::

"Yes?"

::If it was my master entering, you would be dead before you heard so much as a whisper.::

"Good to know, droid"

The droid beeped once and Toranilor followed it out of his room. "I wonder why Quinlan wants to see me in his room.. Seems a pretty un-orthodox way to give a reward." Toranilor immediatley stiffened. "What if there is no reward? What if Quinlan was dis-satisfied with my work?" Toranilor shuddered. It was well known that the only thing scarier than Quinlan Sa'athis was Quinlan when he was displeased.

"Maybe he found something on my datapad that was-" Toranilor stopped as he realised his datapad had not been returned to him. Attempting to mask his fears, Toranilor asked the droid
"Hey droid, why havent you given my datapad back? Fallen in love?"

::Your datapad will be returned when my master deems it nessecary. Now make haste.::

Ten minutes of hasteful walking later, they arrived at Quinlan's quaters. Toranilor's teeth began to chatter in anticipation as they stood outside the door. Once the door opened, revealing the Grand Inquisitor, Toranilor was visibly shaking.

"G-G-Grand Inquisitor, you requested my presence?"

Post  Quinlan Sa'athis on Fri Jul 03, 2009 12:56 pm

Quinlan felt the fear in Toranilor before he got to the door, it was emanating along the corridor in waves, good he thought, the cadet will need that and more for whats to come.

The door opened with a soft hiss and in floated the spherical I1Q1 and behind him came the cadet who was almost shuffling in his reluctance to enter. Quinlan had his back to the door when they entered and without turning uttered a command to the droid.

"I1Q1 Security Protocol Lockdown, no one comes in" In mid-sentence he turned to face his visitors "and no one leaves"

"Lockdown Initiated"

It was not what you would expect, the droid that was bristling with probes, needles and other protrusions was suddenly a sleak black sphere, from each side emerged a gyroscopic like structure with a small tube at its center. The cadet was looking at these when they started to spin and he realized with amazement what they were, blasters. Toranilor started to put his engineering mind to work, working out the angles of the blasters from their rotations and coming to the quick conclusion that they had a 360 degree arc of fire, a most effective security arrangement.

Cadet Toranilor was thinking of other applications those blaster arrangements could be put too when Quin softly cleared his throat. Toran spun around so fast that it was only his force-honed reflexes that prevented him falling unceremoniously to the floor. Quinlan decided not to notice as the cadet straightened himself out.

"I am about to receive the results of my diagnostic protocols on your engine design and installation, and I thought I should like to see your face when judgment is made on your work"

With that the console beeped from Quins desk and he uttered one word in clipped tones.

"Report"

"Diagnostic completed for: Hyperdrive - Model - Unknown Hybrid. Analysis and stress-test show a 94% efficiency rate Hyperdrive operating at class 1 level"

Toran understood the engine report as well as Quin, perhaps better and allowed a ghost of a smile to appear on his face as his fear started to ebb away.

"Class 1 cadet, not as fast as the Ebon Hawk however considering what you had to work with, a job well done. I believe I mentioned success would be rewarded and the time is here"

"Reach out with the force cadet, feel the contents of the three boxes on my desk"

Toran felt around the shape of the boxes through the force, all three of them were identical and fairly small, probing through the metal of the boxes he scanned the contents. Fierce heat and raw power emanated from the first while the second gave off a very icy chill and the third was a more subtle power than the first.

When Quin was sure that the cadet had a grasp of the contents he instructed him to choose and open a box and draw the contents towards him.

Toran made his choice and concentrated on the lid which opened easliy, the contents floated out and started to move towards him. It was a crystal, a brilliant red crystal, bringing it the final few meters he caught it in his hand with the intention of examining it.

The crystal flared as if someone had shone a light through it and started to burn through the skin of Toran's hand, Quin allowed the crystal to smolder for a few seconds more then made a small gesture and the crystal flew across the space and into his hand where it returned to its inert state.

"The Qixoni is a powerful crystal cadet, it takes the will of an equally powerful force user to tame it, you may have it if you think you can carry it from here or you may choose again. While you think on that choice, your hand"

Toran held out his damaged hand wincing at the pain, Quin hovered his hand over the top, not making contact and concentrated. A blue glow appeared to come from the hand and passed over the damaged area healing it but leaving a very small scar as a reminder of the lesson.

Flexing his fingers in a experimental way, Toran was pleased to see that no lasting damage had been done to the nerves in his hand.

"Master Quinlan, I would like to choose again" he said confidently.

Facing the desk again he bypassed the second box, figuring, wrongly in this case, that the icy chill he felt from it would have more or less the same effect on his hand as the Qixoni, after all cold burns just as well as heat.

Concentrating on the third box he opens the lid and pulls another crystal towards him. This one is smaller and has a watery blue tinge to it. He examined the crystal closely but his knowledge of such things was still limited and he looked up at Quinlan.

"Its a Upari crystal, powerful in its own right but more pliable and easily controlled. This one has been expertly cut increasing its power by a factor of three, it is quite brittle so take the box also to keep it safe until you can find somewhere to store it or place it in your saber".

With that Quin turned to the desk and picked up the box, holding it open for Toran to replace the crystal in it, once done he put it back on the desk.

"I have one more thing for you cadet"

With the last word Quins saber was in his hand and he had started the sweeping curve of his attack igniting the brilliant orange blade just at the apex. The slash was very fast and Quin's saber was back on his belt before Toran knew what had happened.

And then the pain hit. Toran's face felt like it was on fire, Quins blade had pierced both of his eyes and left a small scar across the bridge of his nose Quinlan took the cadets shoulder in a grip of iron to steady him and passed his healing hands over Torans eyes, the pain lessened considerably but the blindness remained.

"Now cadet, let the force be your eyes and follow me" Turning to the droid Quinlan issues his next command.

"I1Q1 terminate lockdown and come with me"

Terminating the lockdown protocol the droid moved to its Master as Quin walked across the room, followed hesitantly by Toran with the droid bringing up the rear his destination was a ornate engraving made of some unknown metal on the far wall.

"Access Inquisitorius Command Voiceprint ID Grand Inquisitor Quinlan Sa'athis X15Alpha"

The panel slid up revealing the entrance to a small pod. The three stepped inside and the door slid smoothly down.

"Of course Vly-Nor, head to the services area in the hanger building and talk to EG-32 the droid overseer, if he cannot help recover the corrupted information he can at least direct you to someone that can." says Jacan "Oh and Vly-Nor, I will send ahead word to Ee-gee that you are coming, if you need a ship to carry out your research ask him."

Taking a moment of brief silence Jacan adds "Take one of the newer cadets with you if you need assistance in your research, these fresh faces need to get around a bit more."

"Off you go Vly-Nor" says Jacan as he turns away and reaches for his commlink to instruct EG-32.

"I1Q1 Security Protocol Lockdown, no one comes in" "and no one leaves"

Lockdown? Oh no. No. No. This cannot be good.
Toranilor made a step backwards, just as the door he entered through slammed shut.
CRAP! What have I gotten myself into?
At that moment, the small black droid, once bristling with needles, probes and other appendages retracted its armaments...
Phew, at least I don't have to worry about that droid anny-
Only to have them replaced with gyroscopic blasters!
WOAH! How did Quinlan manage to get his hand on those?
Noticing the geometric precision with which they were arranged, Toranilor's engineering mind set to work.
With that 360 arc of movement per blaster... plus the rotation of the droid... Oh darn.
That droid can shoot me from annywhere in this room.

At that moment, Quinlan cleared his throat. Pre-occupied with the droid, Toranilor had breifly forgotten that Quinlan was in the room. Turning around and only just managing to avoid falling over, Toranilor faced Quinlan, just as he said;

"I am about to receive the results of my diagnostic protocols on your engine design and installation, and I thought I should like to see your face when judgment is made on your work"

WHAT?!?! He's treating me like this and he hasn't even recieved the diagnostics yet?!?
Toranilor brief moment of anger at his treatment was quickly replaced with fear, as he realised If this is Quinlan when he is 'normal', what will he be like if the diagnostic comes back bad??

At that moment, the console beeped.

I guess I'm about to find out...

::Diagnostic completed for: Hyperdrive - Model - Unknown Hybrid. Analysis and stress-test show a 94% efficiency rate Hyperdrive operating at class 1 level::

Toranilor was awestruck. 94%?? I was only hoping for 85! This is great! Quinlan can't possibly punish me now, no-one's standards are that high!

"Class 1 cadet, not as fast as the Ebon Hawk however considering what you had to work with, a job well done."

Ebon Hawk.. Ebon Hawk... I'm sure I have something about that on my Datapad.
Toranilor reached for his pocket, when he realised Quinlan still had his datapad. He was about to ask for his prized possession back, when Quinlan continued;

"I believe I mentioned success would be rewarded and the time is here"

Hurrah! I wonder what sort of reward Quinlan has in mi-

Toranilor concentrated hard, and reached out with the force to the three boxes. Fierce heat and raw power emanated from the first, while the second gave off a very icy chill and the third was a more subtle power than the first.

Toranilor was then intructed to open one of the boxes.

Well, the first one seems to be giving off heat, perhaps it is a crystalline power source!

Toranilor made his choice, and opened the first box using the force, its contents drifting towards him.
Toranilor reached out to grab the crystal.
Hmm, is this a lightsaber crystal or a-

Quinlan allowed the crystal to smolder for a few moments, before removing the crystal from Toranilor's hand and placing it in his own.

Why doesent it burn him as it burned me? His skin can't be fire-proof!
Toranilor breifly considered the posibility that Quinlan's skin was indeed fireproof, when the Grand Inquisitor said;

"The Qixoni is a powerful crystal cadet, it takes the will of an equally powerful force user to tame it, you may have it if you think you can carry it from here or you may choose again. While you think on that choice, your hand"

I am NOT choosing that thing... I doubt I could survive taking it back to my quarters!
Toranilor held out his damaged hand wincing at the pain, Quin hovered his hand over the top, not making contact and concentrated. A blue glow appeared to come from the hand and passed over the damaged area healing it but leaving a very small scar as a reminder of the lesson.
Phew! I don't know what would have happened if I couldn't use my hand again... No more engineering, that's for sure!

I hope the other boxes dont hurt as much...
"Master I would like to choose again." said Toranilor.

Reaching out with the force, Toranilor sensed that the second box carried a crystal eminating a cold chill. I am NOT choosing that box thought Toranilor, the pain from the first crystal still fresh in his mind, despite Quinlan's healing powress.

Concentrating on the third box, Toranilor pulled a watery blue crystal towards him.
Well, this one doesent look like it will hurt me...
Toranilor held the crystal in his hand, analysing it.
Its a... Its a.... Its a something... Certainly not an engine part.

Quite possibly sensing his confusion, Quinlan spoke as Toranilor looked up at him;
"Its a Upari crystal, powerful in its own right but more pliable and easily controlled. This one has been expertly cut increasing its power by a factor of three, it is quite brittle so take the box also to keep it safe until you can find somewhere to store it or place it in your saber".

If it hasn't burned through my hand yet, this thing is a keeper.

Toranilor was about to bow and thank Quinlan, when he said;

"I have one last thing for you cadet"

Another reward? I wonder what it could be? This crystal surely seems adaquate.
Toranilor, busy thinking of another reward, did not notice that Quinlan had drawn his saber.

A flash of orange was the last thing Toranilor saw.

My eyes!? What just hap-
And then the pain came.
BY THE FORCE!! WHAT HAS QUINLAN DONE?!!?!
Toranilor would have fallen to the ground, had Quinlan not grabed his shoulder and steadied him. Sensing Quinlan's hand, Toranilor assumed Quinlan must have healed him, for the pain in his eyes was gone, even though the blindness remained.

"Now cadet, let the force be your eyes and follow me"

Was tha just some elaborate way of blindfolding me?? Okay, focus. Find your center, reach out. Toranilor immeadiatley sensed the imposing presence Quinlan was in the force.
Hmm.. I wonder why I couldn't sense Quinlan before, with the boxes..

Toranilor heard Quinlan say something, but was too distracted by his own thoughts to listen.
Fumbling his way behind Quinlan, Toranilor stepped into what he thought was a light transport. Oh great. Now we're going somewhere. No doubt dangerous. I should never have agreed to this assignment! Yet, even as he shook, Toranilor could not help but feel some sort of calm, as if Quinlan merely wanted to obscure his method of transport, and that his motives were entirely good.

Suddenly,
"Cadet, get up."
"Y-Y-Yes, Grand Master?

After a couple of hours of training Skeeve switches off the training remotes and powers down his lightsaber. He stretches his shoulders out trying to wring out the soreness that has set in. Silently he decides to head back to his quarters and apply ointment to his wounds.

As Skeeve heads out of the door he sees Vly-Nor's form heading toward the hanger area. "I wonder if Vly-Nor knows anything about Dathomir," Skeeve wonders and decides to follow Vly-Nor.

"Pardon me Master Takk but I noticed you studying diligently in library and wondered if you could help me with a quest I have. Do you know anything about tarenteks or rancors? I feel I can finally be a knight if I can defeat one of these creatures. I know they have been found on Dathomir and Kashyyyk."

Having been conducting well needed repairs to the Knuxx's Remorse, Jeme's starship was finally ready for take off. exhausted, and twitching in irritation, Jeme retreats into the Knuxx's Remorse for some much needed rest.

Scanning the ship's current schematics, the V-3G3 drive engine he had installed seemed to be working without fault. This starship engine works more effeciently than he could have ever imagined. With systems working at 90% efficiency, Jeme is highly pleased at what his contacts at the Kuat Drive Yards had picked up. Carefully keeping his private dealing a secret, Jeme hopes that the Elders will never discover his dealings.

While pondering such things, Jeme notices an incoming message from one of his contacts on Kashyyk. Putting the message on an encrypted frequency, Jeme turns to engage the towering wookie Reshyyn

Translating the complex shryywook to basic, words begin to position themselves below the holovid of the wookie.

"salutations he who was shamed, I come with news of your search, my hunting parties have searched, finding the bones of many who have ventured into the shadowlands, among those fallen wookie, there was one missing, whom carried the holocron that you sought."

"and have you tracked the creatures wherabouts that did this?

sensing his contact give a short pause, Jeme took it as fear, fear of the only creature known of bring true fear to a wookie, a Terentek.

"I will arrive there immediately to deal with this Terentek, if that is what it takes to get the holocron I am searching for."

Giving a sound goodbye, Jeme terminates the signal and, giving a short grunt, sets his ship for Kashyyyk.
Allowing himself a small smirk, Jeme takes off.

"If all goes plan, that holocron will give me the knowledge that I have much lacked, now the Terantek, that just adds to the exitement."

Meanwhile Bluestone has made his way to the assault militia floor of the temple building where he is checking through his equipment and stocking up from the Armory in preparation for his mission.

Bluestones commlink buzzes and after activating it a message is relayed from the Supreme Commander, "Trooper Bluestone, this is your Supreme Commander speaking, there has been a change of plans and I will not be going with you to Coruscant to retrieve the item so you will have to take command of the mission, I am sending Jano Vas along with you, he is well trained and loyal to the Order. New intel was recieved that may change the timing of your mission, Jano can fill you in, he is in the Briefing room now. May the Force guide you Bluestone. Jacan out."

Bluestone had led many missions but this one initially required the delicate touch of a Force-user, the new intel must be significant to have Jacan pulling out.

Bluestone had never worked with Jano but had heard good things about the man, a real soldier - they would make a good team.

Putting his larger equipment back in the Armory storage Bluestone made his way down the corridor between the General and Commodores offices, through the massive security door into the Briefing room to meet up with Jano.

Spotting him across the room studying a holodisplay Bluestone walked towards Jano and spoke a greeting.

Re: OUF Temple on Caarimon (15ATC)

Post  Quinlan Sa'athis on Sun Jul 05, 2009 5:35 pm

The pod was designed to give the illusion of movement, even to a force user. It took a great amount of concentration to work your way through the confusion and figure out in which direction the pod was going, and at the time Toranilor had other things on his mind.

Quinlan stepped out with his hand on the hilt of his saber, he sensed nothing but there were things that even he could not sense and he had learnt through dangerous experience to be careful. The cadet stumbled out next, still feeling more with his hands than with the force, well that would change soon enough.

"I1Q1 stay here and secure the pod"

Quinlan moved along the corridor with the cadet close behind. They walked for a while passing all manner of things along the way, the cadet was aware of none of it, finally coming to a stop in what felt like a large room with many obstacles in it.

He moved into the center of the room, found his favorite rock and sat down.

"Although it doesn't feel like it right now this day is going to be rather profitable for you cadet."

Not expecting the words Toran stood there in silence.

"Your greatest strength is also your greatest weakness. I have taught the lesson of blindness many times before cadet, although not to anyone in the Order but you are truly blind and if you do not recognize and remedy this weakness then you will fall all to easily in the battles that are sure to come"

Toran wasn't sure what to say to this so he merely mumbled a soft

"Yes Master"

Quin raised his arm lazily and shot a bolt of searing lighting from a finger tip straight into the tender flesh that used to be Torans right eye, the cadet sunk to his knees in pain. After a few moments the pain subsided enough that Quin judged the cadet would hear his next words.

"I am not here to waste my time cadet, you will listen to the words I have for you or we are done here, and trust me, that would not be a good thing for you."

"Yes Master, you said I had a weakness"?

"Your aptitude for engines and mechanics is considerable, because of this you are channeling your force energy into your hands and into the tools you work with, do not mistake me cadet, this on its own is not a cause for concern"

Quin's eyes flashed angrily at this point, the feeling of it was picked up by the blind cadet who could not see it for himself, as Quin continued on.

"Your pathetic, a child could have managed to see through the force better and faster than you did. You were still using your hands, they were out in front of you as if you were working on an engine and your force energy was leading you on behind me.
Its all very well to focus your energy like this, it makes you a fair saber practitioner and in time, if you live, you will be a master of the blade, but this is not enough."

Seeing the look of confusion on the cadets face, he thinks its time for a demonstration.

"Cadet take 10 paces back and flourish your saber in the most intricate and difficult way you know how"

Toran's blade was in his hand, tracing patterns through the air with grace and style. Quin activated a panel on the "rock" he was sitting on and drew out two lightsabers from the cavity that opened, igniting them both so Toran had a chance of distinguishing two blades if his concentration was there but not the advantage of hearing the second saber ignite later.
Quin placed one saber on the ground and threw the other into the air, catching it with the force he moved it into position in front of Toran and broke the flourish.

"Defend yourself cadet"

Launching into a classic Shii-Cho attack, Quins floating saber began to spar with Toran. After 15 minutes or so of this the other saber was launched into the air and brought into position behind Toran. Quin sensed the cadet through the force and felt all of his concentration on the blade to his front, the one he was sparring with. He brought the saber down with viciousness slicing a wide arc across Torans back. Quinlan deactivated both sabers and let them fall as Toran fell to the ground writhing in pain.

"My lesson for you cadet will start with awareness."
"You need to focus with equal concentration on all aspects of the battle."

"Awareness so your not caught off guard"
"Shielding so you can protect yourself from force powers"
"The prowess with the blade you already have"
and the mental ability to protect your mind from attack"

"Right now you are focused on one of these and neglecting the other three completely, you had no idea that the saber was behind you or there was even a second saber to begin with."

"Stand up cadet, lets try this again shall we"

Igniting both sabers Quin brought them into position and resumed the sparring with the front saber.

After several hours of practice and many saber wounds Toran had mastered the technique, now no matter where the second saber attacked from, even the impossible angles that only a floating saber can achieve, Toran was ready for it and successfully blocked it while maintaining his attack on the first saber.

Quin called a halt to the training at this time and brought the second saber back to his hand, replacing it in the cavity, he said.

"Well done cadet, you are now less likely to die, lets see how well you do with the force powers."

Lightning crackled around Quins raised hand and Toran steeled himself as the saber ignited and started its attack. The first jolt came quicker than he expected.

The training seemed to last a week, in reality it was only about 20 hours. Satisfied that he had finished what he set out to do Quin replaced the saber and stood up.

"Cadet follow me"

Following the same route back, Toran noticed a lot more, the place he was in was buzzing with activity, from the faint aura of fear coming from what could only be described as a Sith mind to the igniting of sabers in far off rooms, he noticed.

Reaching the pod they both entered and it started its journey. The pod seemed less unstable to the newly trained cadet but he was still unable to determine speed, distance or direction in it, presently it arrived back at Quins office and the door slid open.

Master Sa'athis entered his office and then turned to face Toranilor. This time he did not grab the shoulder, Toran was steady enough as Quin passed his hands over his eyes and completed their healing work restoring the sight back to the orbs.

"The rest of the wounds will heal in time, we are done here cadet, take your crystal and leave"

Toranilor took the box that Quin passed to him and made his way to the door.

"Cadet, are you forgetting something"?

Quin tossed him the datapad and Toran caught it in his free hand then continued out the door. Quin walked around his desk and sat down.

"I1Q1 access the mainframe and tell me what I missed while I was otherwise occupied"

There was a brief silence before the droid began to speak, Quin sat back in his chair closed his eyes and entered a semi-meditative state as he listened.

Vly-Nor was not terribly pleased with the efforts Ee-Gee put into helping him recover the corrupted data. Ee-Gee did seem to have his hands full, so he thanked the droid for at least looking at the data pad and also for directing him to the terminal that wasn't more than one meter away from him to search for someone that could assist him! It was just as well. Vly could use a nice trip off planet for a change. He finally felt he had a home and family here with the OUF, but traveling always had its appeals.

Vly began typing away at the terminal to first make sure he had the necessary files on his data pad because there was no way he was gonna bring a stranger to the temple for the job. After saving all the necessary files he began searching for someone that would have the ability do the job while at the same time not be missed if he happened to disappear. If the data on the files were sensitive information he could not allow the person to sell the information to the wrong people. Vly was fairly confident in his ability to mind rub someone, but there was always the chance it wouldn't work.

Before Vly completed his search he felt a presence approaching him. Skeevenmac arrived at his side a moment later and greeted Vly-Nor.

Vly nodded and paused before replying with "I am curious Skeeve why is it you feel that killing a Rancor will complete your training? The last time I checked Rancors don't carry Light sabers." Vly dropped his concentration on the terminal and turned to Skeeve for his answer....

Post  Toranilor on Tue Jul 07, 2009 1:09 pm

"Stand up cadet, lets try this again shall we"
We must be at our destination...
The door of the pod opened, making an audible swoop.
Where are we? What are we doing? When can I leave? Will I get my sight back?
Toranilor's mind brimmed with questions as he followed Quinlan out of the pod, feeling his way forward.
Just keep walking, follow Quinlan, dont want to get lost here, especially not while blind.
Toranilor followed Quinlan for quite a while, completley oblivious to his surroundings.

Wait, why have we stopped? Did Quinlan fin-
"Although it doesn't feel like it right now this day is going to be rather profitable for you cadet."
Toranilor, startled by Quinlan's talking, having heard almost nothing since they entered the pod.
Profitable? If I come out of here alive I'll be surprised!
"Your greatest strength is also your greatest weakness. I have taught the lesson of blindness many times before cadet, although not to anyone in the Order but you are truly blind and if you do not recognize and remedy this weakness then you will fall all to easily in the battles that are sure to come"

Taught this lesson before? I wonder what happened to those others who suffered this 'lesson'
Suddenly aware that Quinlan was expecting a response, Toranilor quickly mumbled
"Yes master"
At that moment, Toranilor felt immense pain in what used to be his eye.
AHHH!!
Sinking to his knees and almost passing out, Toranilor mentally cried out in anguish.
Pay attention to what he is saying!!

"I am not here to waste my time cadet, you will listen to the words I have for you or we are done here, and trust me, that would not be a good thing for you."
Having learned his lesson, Toranilor replied;
"Yes Master, you said I had a weakness?"

"Your aptitude for engines and mechanics is considerable, because of this you are channeling your force energy into your hands and into the tools you work with, do not mistake me cadet, this on its own is not a cause for concern."
Not a cause for concern? Then why is he-
Toranilor's thoughts ceased when he felt the anger Quinlan was projecting through the force. His feelings were so strong Toranilor felt as if a storm wind were blowing against him.

What is Quinlan on about? If my use of the force leads me to sucess in what I do, who is he to judge?

"Cadet take 10 paces back and flourish your saber in the most intricate and difficult way you know how"

Now we're getting somewhere!
Toranilor drew his saber and dropped into his custom dueling style, feet perpendicular, with one foot forward. Focus, find your center, project forward. Toranilor then began a complex defensive movement, incorporating both the Soresu form of lightsaber combat and moves of his own devision. This series of movements created an inpenetrable barrier of sorts, ensuring Toranilor could not be hit from the front as long as he mainatained his conentration.

Toranilor heard a lightsaber igniting, and prepared for attack.

"Defend yourself cadet"

Though not being able to track the saber's movement, Toranilor felt something when it approached him for an attack. Moving his saber to parry the oncoming blow, Toranilor was pleased when he felt contact. After 15 minutes, Toranilor was comfortable enough to let his mind wander. Is Quinlan fighting, or controlling this saber through the force? I'm not sure if -
At that moment, a second saber hit Toranilor across the back.
The pain was immense, and Toranilor could scarcley think.
TWO SABERS? I only heard one... I only felt one... THIS is what Quinlan means by 'blind'. How could I not have seen this?

"My lesson for you cadet will start with awareness."
"You need to focus with equal concentration on all aspects of the battle."

Now that I think about it, this is true... I have always behaved so.. And it will be my undoing.

"Awareness so your not caught off guard"
"Shielding so you can protect yourself from force powers"
"The prowess with the blade you already have,
and the mental ability to protect your mind from attack"

If Quinlan saw fit to assault my mind during that fight... I scarcely think I would be capable of coherent thought!

"Right now you are focused on one of these and neglecting the other three completely, you had no idea that the saber was behind you or there was even a second saber to begin with."

"Stand up cadet, lets try this again shall we"

Okay.. Center yourself.... Project all around you... Be aware of everything, yet focus at the same time.

After several hours of practice and many saber wounds Toranilor had mastered the technique, now no matter where the second saber attacked from, even the impossible angles that only a floating saber can achieve, Toranilor was ready for it and successfully blocked it while maintaining his attack on the first saber.

Toranilor was pleased with his own progress, and startled that there was so much about combat he knew nothing of.
I feel as if my eyes had been opened for the first time... to think I was wandering around so blind for all my life..
My saber powress is greater than it was before, now none can best me in mele combat!

As if reading his thoughts, Quinlan then said;
"Well done cadet, you are now less likely to die, lets see how well you do with the force powers."

Force powers? How would I defend against those?
Disregarding his own confusion, Toranilor readied himself for the attack.

After what seemed like a week, the training was finished.
Toranilor felt exhausted, but in a way he had never felt so alive.

"Cadet follow me"

Following Quinlan back on the route they took to their destination, Toranilor was amazed at what he now saw, heard and felt. He was amazed that he managed to make it to the training ground without falling over.
The place they was in was buzzing with activity, from the faint aura of fear coming from what could only be described as a Sith mind to the igniting of sabers in far off rooms.
Where IS this place? Perhaps that was one of the reasons for blinding me..

They arrived back to the office after a trip through the same transport. Although less confusing, Toranilor still could not work out the dimensions, speed or direction of the craft.
Toranilor entered Quinlan's office shortly after he did. Feeling a strong presence in the force, Toranilor blinked suddenly as sight was returned to him. Breifly taking in the colours of Quinlan's office, Toranilor realised how dependent he had been on a single sense.
That will have to change in the future.

"The rest of the wounds will heal in time, we are done here cadet, take your crystal and leave"

I had forgoten all about the crystal.. I should put this in my lightsaber when I have the chance..

Toranilor took the box containing the crystal, and made his way towards the door.

"Cadet, are you forgetting something"?

Toranilor turned as Quinlan produced his datapad, and caught it as Quinlan tossed it to him.

My Datapad! How could I forget about that?

"Thank you master. For everything."

Toranilor then left the office, traveling to his private quarters to rest and reflect on his experience.

"At ease Private Jano." says Bluestone before continuing, "As you are already aware then our mission was to land on coruscant and make our way through the lower levels which are littered with rubble and debris from the sacking by the Sith Empire, also highly dangerous as the criminal organisations and general low-life scum have been forced to surface or risk being trapped inside crumbling buildings. Our objective lies in the ruins of the Jedi Temple. Normally we would just walk through the front door however the Inquisitorius have passed on reports of Sith activity in the area of which Coruscant governance are apparently unaware. You do not need to know what the package is, you just need to help me retrieve it before the Sith agents do."

Bluestone quickly scanned the room to make sure no one was listening in on their conversation before returning his attention to Jano. There was a nautolan studying a datapad on the other side of the room but the room was otherwise empty.

"Jano, the Supreme Commander said you had some new intel on the mission that you could relay to me, it must alter the mission significantly for Jacan to pull out last minute."

The datapad comes to life with displays of a tarentek on Kashyyyk, rancors on Dathomir, and the Krayt Dragon on Tatooine.

"The force isn't pulling me in any certain direction right now but I found this article about three jedi killing a tarentek in the Shadowlands on Kashyyyk. Vly replied "no worries about the ship Skeeve, I'm sure Ee Gee can supply us with one, or I can try to borrow Arashi's. On second thought, Ee Gee sounds like the better option." Last time Vly-Nor borrowed Arashi's ship he brought it back with a couple scratches and dents it didn't have when it left.

"Why don't you ask Ee Gee if he can supply us with a ship. The Supreme Commander has already given us the okay." Vly's search for a computer programmer/hacker brought up way too many names to sort through. He decided to search only names in the Meridian sector. The results were still lengthy but not nearly as bad as before. As he was scrolling down he noticed a name of someone living on Bimmisaari. Vly figured this would be a good one to try since Bimmisaari was fairly close to Kashyyk. Vly copied the information onto his datapad and began logging out of the terminal as Skeeve was walking returning.

"So how was your chat with Ee Gee?"
