The Making of Coruscant

Post  Arashi Storm on Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:39 am

From the majestic skyline to the dark and seedy underground levels, a large team of The Old Republic developers worked together to construct the dynamic city-world of Coruscant. Watch our latest Developer Dispatch, The Making of Coruscant, to hear developers discuss the creation of the Republic’s capital from the deepest basement to the tallest skyscraper.

I finally decided to try and figure out how to arrange everything. Updating the comic was a lot more difficult to figure out. I kinda messed it up and it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to fix it. I think I can handle it from now on though. Fun stuff.

This is what I love about the graphics, it's easy to look at and at the same time you can still see a lot of interesting scenery around you, any one notice the weather in the game?

Great video.

I was wondering the same thing, heh. And he looks like 20 years younger in this video than he did in one of the first video's.

It's a Star Wars armor shirt. They have them in many styles. I think that one is Mandolorian. The Jango/Boba Fett shirts are the most popular.

I am amazed at the lengths they are going in this. I mean they are even going to having to build without specific terrain.

Its not actually that amazing by itself, I mean heaps of games have entire cells that are built from no terrain, rather an inter connected series of modular static building pieces. (Mass effect comes to mind)

But what does amaze me is that they are building an entire multi-leveled city/world out of that, that's CRAZY!

also, who wants to start a bet on when we get the first jumper to take a leap off the tallest point in Coruscant? and how long they will fall? =P

I don't mean as in cult like, it could be used promotionally. Have some great hero whoosh by in a speeder or with jetpacks to save him...

but you have to admit it would be cool to watch, and count as he slowly fell to his inevitable doom (because we'd all be to busy counting how long it took to save him like we were meant to)

And it would be hilarious if everyone fell except one smart ass guy decided to use his jetpack and zip back up again.

I hope jetpacks work how they did in Jedi Knight Academy Multiplayer actually, with a fuel limit and a similar physics system.

Yeah, although one would assume that how long it lasts in the air, depends on how many credits you pour into its development..
